1) Cabinet Styles

Tapmaster makes a variety of different activator styles.  The activators works with any faucet, but not all of them work with every style of sink and cabinet... here's what you'll need to know before you order.

Standard Cabinet

Standard Cabinet

Standard Cabinet

Standard Cabinets rest on the floor and have a toe-kick below the cabinet door and /or drawers. These can include dual door cabinets, cabinets with drawers and cabinets with tip-out openings.

Floating Cabinet

Floating Cabinet >7" above floor

Floating Cabinet > 7" above floor

Floating Cabinets are similar to standard cabinets but have no toe-kick. They either stand on legs or are hung with a small 3-7" gap between the floor and bottom of the cabinet.

Floating Vanity

Floating Vanity > 7" above floor

Floating Vanities are cabinets that float more than 7" off the floor. Like Standard and Floating cabinets, they may have a drawer, tip-out or cabinet doors.

Wall Mounted/Pedestal

Wall Mounted/Pedestal

Wall Mounted/Pedestal

Wall Mounted or Pedestal mounted counters and sinks have no cabinetry below countertop. These are common in commercial washrooms as well as in some residential washrooms.

2) Activator Styles

Knee, foot or any combination. Choose the style that bests suits your application.

Knee Activators

TapMaster Door Assembly

Tapmaster knee activators are installed by mounting a small button behind the cabinet door or drawer face. Our uniquely designed button only needs to move 0.5mm (0.02 inches) to activate the water flow making it invisible when the door is closed. Most users find the knee activator by-far the easiest hands-free system to use for tasks like handwashing, brushing teeth etc. Many customers choose to add a knee activator to another activator such as a Euro or Kick Pedal.

How They Work

Tapmaster knee activators are designed to be installed behind a cabinet door or drawer. All you have to do to turn the water on is press against the door or other face and voilà! Water on!

Of all the Tapmaster activator styles, knee/cabinet door activators are the simplest to install and most cost-effective. The Tapmaster turns the entire cabinet door into an activation surface. Many customers report that our cabinet door activators are simplest to use just by leaning against the cabinet when they want water.

Best Uses

Knee activators are best suited to residential washrooms, dental operatories and public washrooms where there is a cabinet under the sink.

Euro Style Foot Activators

If there was ever an elegant foot activator for a faucet, the Tapmaster Euro style would be it. Measuring just 30mm across the Euro style activators are intuitive to use and bare-foot friendly. The flexible probe can be cut to fit any toe-kick from 3″ to 6.5″ tall and is soft to the touch.

How They Work

Tapmaster Euro-style foot activators are installed on the toe kick and are activated by tapping the probe in any direction. To leave the water running or use your faucet like normal – press the probe directly left or right until you feel a click! When you want to turn the water off, just snap the probe back to the center position with your foot. It’s easier than it sounds!

Tapmaster Euro probes are made of a soft and flexible rubber compound that is easy on the feet and extremely durable. The main body of the activator is constructed of solid brushed nickel plated brass.

Continuous Flow Option

Euro activators can be locked into the “on” position to keep the water running while you step away to do another task. Fill your sink, run the water until it gets hot, whatever you like. With Tapmaster you don’t need to give up utility for hands-free operation.

Best Uses

Tapmaster recommends the Euro style activator in any residential application. The combination of discrete aesthetics, ease of use and locking functionality make it the ideal helper in the kitchen or washroom. Euro activators are also very popular in dental offices and medical clinics.

Kick Pedal Activators

The Kick Pedal is the most popular foot operated faucet activator in the Tapmaster lineup. Their combination of robust construction and intuitive operation is perfect for dental offices, clinics, commercial hand-washing stations etc. The stainless steel kick plate and aluminum extruded mounting plate are built with heavy use in mind.

Continuous Flow Option

Like our Euro style activators, kick pedal activators can be locked into the “on” position to keep the water running while you step away to do another task. Fill your sink, run the water until it gets hot, whatever you like. With Tapmaster you don’t need to give up utility for hands-free operation.

How They Work

Tapmaster kick pedal foot activators are installed on the toe kick and are activated by pressing the face inward. To leave the water running or use your faucet like normal – step down on the top angled portion of the kick pedal. When you want to turn the water off, just tap the front of the kick pedal your foot to release it.

Tapmaster kick pedals are made from solid stainless steel and aluminum. They are designed to meet medical, military and commercial use standards for durability and low maintenance.

Best Uses

Tapmaster recommends the kick pedal activator for medical or dental offices. This activator requires a cabinet with a toe-kick underneath the sink. The large pedal makes it easy to use either seated in a work chair or standing. Kick pedals were designed to be used with shoes, however many people find them comfortable to use with bare feet as well.

In-Floor Activators

Flush mounted, easy to clean and incredibly intuitive. Our in-floor activators were designed in conjunction with Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto to meet the needs of emergency rooms, surgical operatories and public washrooms. Surface mount kits are available to install where direct in-floor installation is not possible.

How They Work

Tapmaster in-floor activators are installed directly into the floor by drilling a hole for the activator tubing to run through or with one of our surface mount kits. The in-floor activation plate is electropolished stainless steel with a solid stainless-steel base.

The pressure plate flexes 0.5mm (0.02″) and only requires 3.5kg (~8lbs) of force to activate. The design is intuitive even for people who have never seen a foot-operated faucet before.

When paired with a basic spout, the Tapmaster in-floor activator is the perfect commercial hands-free faucet system. It is vandal resistant, requires no ongoing maintenance and provides a perfect seal against the floor to prevent dirt buildup.

Temperature Control Option

Our model 1786 in-floor activators are currently the only Tapmaster activators that allow for hands-free temperature control. Press on the red button for hot, blue for cold or both for warm.

Best Uses

In-floor activators are best used in commercial settings - hospitals, food processing facilities and commercial washrooms. They are designed to be installed directly into the floor for a flush installation. Our in-floor activators are rated to be clean with commercial floor polishers and power mops and can withstand up to 3500kg (7700lbs) of weight.
